About us

Our Mission: "To enable girls and young women to grow into confident, self-respecting, responsible community members."

Who are we?

Waitara Pre Junior Guides is a girl guide unit which caters for girls aged between 5 and 7 years old and meets once a week for an hour during school terms. It is part of Waitara District Girl Guides which is a section of Girl Guides NSW & ACT,  and a branch of Girl Guides Australia.

Girl Guides Australia is one of the largest organisations in Australia for girls and young women.  It provides leadership and personal skills development to its 30,000 members, including 22,000 youth members.

For further information on Girl Guides, please visit the Girl Guides NSW & ACT website.

What do Pre Junior Guides do?

Pre Junior Guides are the youngest age group in the Girl Guide Movement and are aged between 5 and 7 years old. These girls fully participate in the Australian Guide Program focusing on the four elements of Physical, Practical, People and Self and learning about them through the seven fundamentals,

Promise and Law, Enjoying the Outdoors, Giving Service, Exploring World Guiding, Sharing in Guiding Traditions, Experiencing Leadership Development, and Participating in the Patrol System. As they are the youngest age group, Pre Junior Guides learn all these valuable life skills in a fun and playful way, such as through games, craft, cooking and many other social, play based experiences.

How much does it cost?

Girl Guides NSW & ACT is a not for profit organisation and keeps fees as low as possible. Fees are used to cover essentials such as insurance. Youth Membership is currently $130 per year.

Each term your daughter’s unit will ask for a $25 fee to cover activity costs.

An initial start up fee of $70 is paid upon joining which covers uniform and resources needed to get started on the guiding journey.

There is also an annual fee of $80 requested per family in order to maintain the building and keep the guide district  financially viable

So at a first year total of $380 and $300 every year there after, we're good value!

Active Kids Rebate

As an added bonus from the 1st of January 2018, your daughter's membership in Girl Guides will be eligible for the Active Kids Rebate from the NSW State Government allowing you to get a $100 rebate on the cost of membership making it an even more affordable after school activity!!!
